The Albany State men’s and women’s basketball teams both came up on the losing side of the equation when they met up with the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee on Monday.

The Albany State Golden Rams men and women basketball teams lost to the Tuskegee Golden Tigers on Monday in a match up of longtime SIAC foes.
In the women’s game, Tuskegee defeated Albany State 69-45. The Golden Rams fell to 2-8 on the season. After trailing by only 3 points at the end of the 1st quarter, the Golden Rams found themselves down by 17 at the half. The Golden Rams shot 25% from the field in the 2nd quarter.
Tuskegee outscored Albany State 21-12 in the 3rd quarter to stretch their lead to 26 points heading into the 4th quarter. The Golden Tigers shot 46.67% from the field in the 3rdquarter. The Golden Rams outscored the Golden Tigers 13-11 in the final stanza as both teams cleared their bench.
Kierra York scored 9 points to lead the Golden Rams in scoring. Juanisha Black finished with 7 points and 7 rebounds. JuToreyia Willis led Tuskegee with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Ashiala Jackson and Brittany Bolin finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
In the men’s game, Tuskegee defeated Albany State 65-49. The Golden Rams fell to 2-8 on the season. Tuskegee slowly pulled away in the 1st half and eventually led 31-20 at the break. In the 1st half, the Golden Rams shot 26.09% from the field and 14.29% from the 3-point line. The Golden Rams also missed 5 of their 12 free throw attempts in the half.
In the 2nd half, the Golden Rams shot 40% from the field, but only made 1 of their 13 3-point attempts. The Golden Rams defense held Tuskegee to 37.50% from the field in the 2nd half. But, their 1st half struggles were too much to overcome.
Jordan Simpson led the Golden Rams with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Victor Robinsonfinished with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Martez Jones came off the bench to score 23 points to lead Tuskegee. Jones also finished with 15 rebounds. Devin Booker finished in double figures with 12 points.
The Albany State men and women will be back in action at home against Lane College on Thursday, December 16.
